Brian Assistant Manager

Brian - Leisure Club Assistant Manager

I started working in the Kinsale Hotel & Spa Leisure Club three years ago as a Leisure Club attendant with very limited swimming ability. Three years later, I am now a qualified pool lifeguard and a Level 1 Assistant Swimming Teacher.

As well as being Assistant Manager of the Leisure Club, I am also one of the swimming lesson co-ordinators along with Micaela. I consider myself to be very motivated, organised and diligent in my work ethic and I strive to be the best team member I can possibly be. Within the next year, I intend to obtain my Level 2 Swimming Teacher qualification as well as both fitness instructor & personal trainer qualifications.

I am very reliable and will always be diligent when working around the pool. Safety is a massive part of our jobs here and we take daily operations and scheduling very seriously. I work closely with my manager Samantha, being on hand to help with staff, general operations and any customer queries, as well as my swim and lifeguard duties.

Coming from an acting background, this helps me with customer service, remembering all our new members names and details to put a personal touch to their visits. I am looking forward to the rest of this year as we have thrown ourselves at new swimming camps, I cannot wait to see all the pupils in, watching them progress into competent swimmers.

In my spare time, I love going to the gym, hiking, watching TV shows/films and tolerating my fiancée’s cat, Mitzi.

I started my fitness career 9 years ago. First, I became a National Pool Lifeguard as swimming was always my passion. I understand how the swimming pool area can be used for both athletic and leisure activities. I enjoy being an Aqua Aerobics instructor, as well as helping others to achieve their fitness goals.

Having now worked within industry over the years, I have continuously looked to refine my skills and offer the best service possible. This has led me to gain qualifications as a Plant Room Operator, Fitness Instructor Level 3 and Personal Trainer Level 4. This enables me to be a part of our popular Wellness Day at the Kinsale Hotel & Spa where I am honoured to create physical training sessions such as Tabata, Aqua Aerobic and morning ABS workout. Which brings lots of fun and joy to see everyone happy, relaxed and heathy.

I am playing a big role in new “Challenges” that our Leisure Club have recently initiated, where I can help set realistic goals and create a road map, reaching them with my fitness education. It gives me a of lot satisfaction to be a part of people’s weight loss journey, helping them to make their dreams come true and being the best versions of themselves.

Outside of work I like spending active time with my family: cycling, walking on the beach and hiking is part of our routine. Fitness and being active play a big role in my life. I love teaching my daughter to swim and taking her to new exciting places.

Micaela

Micaela

I am a qualified lifeguard here at Kinsale Hotel & Spa, I supervise activities and make sure that safety procedures, guidelines and policies are followed. I have the ability to evaluate and analyse the changing dynamics of people taking part in water activities to immediately determine their strengths and weaknesses, as well as the threats to their safety. I am always alert and ready to help.

As well as the above, I am also a swimming lessons co-ordinator, I love organizing, planning and scheduling our Swim Camps and I have a genuine passion for marketing. Being creative is my second nature. Preparing the Swimming Camps posters and certificates brings a lot of joy, but the best part is seeing a big smile on the children’s faces and proud parents.

I am a main receptionist at the Leisure Club front desk, where I am responsible for administrative support for my management and customers. I believe communication and multitasking is key in my role, this helps to assist both, team members and our clients.

Besides work I love spending quality time with my family, I love taking my son to the playground, gymnastics and when I have some time alone, I love to get my nails done in the salon and relax.
